UCK2 catalyzes the phosphorylation of uridine monophosphate to uridine diphosphate and cytidine monophosphate. UCK2 has a part in the production of pyrimidine nucleoside triphosphates essential for RNA and DNA synthesis. Furthermore, an allele of this gene is an important player in mediating nonhumoral immunity to Hemophilus influenzae type B. |
