TnTc is expressed only in the heart and has proved to be a specific biomarker for heart disease. Mutations in TNNT2 are associated with familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy as well as with dilated cardiomyopathy. Alternative splicing results in many tissue-specific isoforms. |
